What kind of bird is this? I noticed many in Taipei last week, they look similar to a species I see every day in Yilan, but those around here look a bit rounder. Very similar colors but different size and shape.

Swallows look unusually large this year.

I have no idea, I tried to have a look at Taiwanese birds but most varieties of eagle/falcon/buzzards look pretty much the same to me.

A Mountain Hawk Eagle maybe? Maybe there are some bird experts on the forum somewhere.

Looks like a juvenile myna bird.

Cool, I didn’t know their name! thanks!

Now we just need to find the name of the eagle falcon osprey buzzard thingy!

That’s me–I have a book lol. That’s a Common Kestrel.

So I have a falcon flying around home and scarying swallows away.

That looks like a screenshot from some really sad movie involving a rape case.

They’re probably just a happy couple I caught with awkward expressions on their face. Cameras have been known to lie.

I’ve always wanted to capture a kingfisher diving into the water… almost mission impossible.

Not long ago I read an article of a photographer whose dream was to freeze the moment a Kingfisher is almost in contact with the water, to get a perfect reflection. It took him many years and hundreds of thousands of shots.
Luckily I only take these kind of pics for fun xD

There are a couple of kingfisher at the HTC Park. I have tried many times to get a pic. All I get is a blurry blue green streak.

Those pics are awesome.

Just sharing the article: 6 years and 720000 shots to finally get this:

That’s some true dedication! (and 8000$ worth of camera body + lens, assuming he bought the body when he started his quest)
