I think you’ve done everything it’s possible to do with it then, until you need to reapply in 5 years. I’m not sure how much excitement you were expecting, but I hope you got it.
Well, I’m very happy with the new exit and entry document because now it shows entries and exits from all your previous passports. When I downloaded it a few years ago it only showed current passport entries and exist. It also shows both new and old ID card numbers. An exciting day indeed
One cool thing you can do with the Citizen Digital Certificate is setup email notifications for if your credit report changes, or for example if a company enquires about your information.
Got my first alert yesterday too when American Express checked my credit report. Do they also send alerts when your credit score changes or something on your credit report is updated?
I went to Immigration just a few days ago. They refused to issue a Digital Certificate. They said I had to change to a new ID number first.
The information desk had originally said I did not need to change. I then waited 40 minutes.
The lady I then spoke with had a pretty surly attitude. She was generally glum and was really short with me and very rude. She just kept repeating “you must change your ID”. She even went over to talk to the information desk to tell them off.
Has anyone updated/renewed their Alien Citizen Digital Certificate after being issued a new ARC number?
It seems like this is necessary after getting the new number (which I didn’t want anyway), and immigration just told me we need to pay for this again to update the details?
Seems a bit cheeky to require us to pay a second time because immigration forced us to get a new ARC number. It’s only NT$278 (or at least it was last time), but I don’t think I’ve gotten NT$278 of value from the digital certificate since I’ve had it, so I don’t think I’ll be bothering renewing it if I have to pay to do so.
Yeah, I realize that a new card needs to be issued, but I didn’t do that and don’t see why I should pay for it. I would happily have kept my old number. It’s enough hassle having to trek to various banks to update my details there…
So you’re saying we also have to pay to get a new NHI card? I thought that was optional…
They will falsely tell you it is optional (even the NHI branch). But if you are employed and give the employer the new ID number. Employer will start to pay your health insurance under the new number and NHI will cancel your old card (your employer will tell you to get a new card).
That will be another mandatory 200 NTD (plus a pass photo)
