One of the few things I am pleased with in BC is how prevalent hydro electric is. Still very much need fossil fuels, but the electricity production there for many many years is about as green as one can hope. And efficient/cheap. It is so far ahead of the game in terms of being able to provide truly clean energy in scale. Bring on the electric cars, they system can probably handle it with ease.

So the government has decided to not appeal the court case about “Lost Canadians”.
The government is now looking at a “substantial connections test”.

Finally. Hope it all goes through. But somehow I left a little frightful that their test might be even more oppressive. I thought we had residency status to take care of most costs associated with Canadians not residing in Canada.
The idea of either the conservative party or the liberal party wanting to test us in order to see if we see fit for being citizens is quite terrifying.
Yeah, that has me a bit worried as well. I’ll be interested to see what exactly the test entails.

Im glad to see Trudeaus actions related to the truckers is still being scrutinized.
That was obvious at the time, a little surprising for a court to state the obvious as courts are increasinly becoming more political.

Indeed, that has also been the go to tactic of the Biden administration. The tactics of the two administrations are strikingly similar.

Exactly. If these judgments are going to be made at all, they need to occur in real time. In this instance the horse hasn’t merely bolted, it’s already lived out a long and happy life frolicking in the forest, died of old age, and been sent off to the glue factory.
And will Trudeau suffer any legal sanctions whatsoever? Nope. Will people receive apologies and compensation? Will lessons be learned? Of course not.
Trudeau broke “the highest law in the land”, as Poilievre put it, and nothing more will be said about the matter. This isn’t justice. At this point they’re just laughing in people’s faces and saying “so what you gonna do about it, sunshine?”.

Just by-the-by, I’m sure a lot of people will be happy to hear that the Ontario Divisional Court denied JPs application to have his case for re-education reviewed, without giving any explanation. Which pretty much sums up the state of Woke penetration into Canada’s judiciary, IMO.
The obvious solution to his dilemma would be to sign up for the retraining, take the piss throughout - with no intention of retaining his license by means of compliance - and then post every second of it to social media. I’m sure he can afford to throw the fees down the toilet, but even if he feels disinclined to, I bet he could crowdfund a significant contribution from the public. The aim here, surely, should be to humiliate and ridicule the lunatics whenever they expose their flank. This represents a golden opportunity for him to reveal these people as the corrupt religious ideologues that they are.
Anyone who isn’t aware of the reasons he’s being pursued, and has simply made the assumption that he must have done something terrible, really needs to read up on the background here. The “charges” against him are fundamentally dishonest - if they were merely claiming, for example, that he’s a bit too shouty, they’d be on solid ground, but they’re not.
