So when might we expect the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by Pfizer Inc and BioNTech to be available in Taiwan? Much depends on ongoing safety trials, but according to government authorities there is a possibility it might arrive in Taiwan in the first quarter of 2021:

Its a shame Taiwan didn’t pre-order like the UK. They will be at the back of the line now, especially since there are next to no cases here. The good news is that there will likely be multiple different vaccines to choose from within a few months.
I think it’s sensible not to pre-order. See what happens with this vaccine before chucking shed loads of cash to Pfizer senior executives and share holders.
Will they not refund if the vaccine isn’t approved?
Probably. I’d like to see how effective it is when used on a large population before buying it.
They’re not at the back of the line. I think they’re in a vaccine alliance which gets them access to multiple vaccines. Back of the line would mean you can’t even ball park a delivery date.
Must not yet assume international travel next summer … must not yet eagerly anticipate international travel …
Which of course is an insanely minor problem compared to what most of the rest of the world is facing, but still, don’t want to get my hopes up.
(Seriously, I do miss my mom and dad, and they’re both getting on in years.)

Wonder how they’re going to test the vaccine here given that there’s no local spread. You can’t intentionally infect people.
I suppose they can still test for safety and side effects of the vaccine.
They could see how many of the subjects in each group eventually transition to “weak positives” or “imported cases”. Joking aside, I guess they could assess safety as @lostinasia said, measure antibody levels over time, and/or see what happens if an outbreak does eventually happen here.

While still undergoing quarantine on Oct. 31, the man began to lose his sense of smell and taste. However, as the symptoms improved the next day, he did not seek medical attention or notify authorities.
This guy should be made an example of. They’ve been talking about this symptom as a very strong indicator of the virus for many months now and he doesn’t report it? Get him TFO.
Lots of talk of vaccines lately. Will Taiwan import them from the PRC? According to Minister Chen, the answer is “no.”
