1,727 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, 1,626 local and 101 imported cases

The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (19) that there were 1,727 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 1,626 local cases and 101 imported cases (89 were positive for flight landing tests); another confirmed case was newly added for a total of 2 deaths.
The command center said that there were 1,626 new local cases today, including 825 males and 801 females, aged between under 5 and over 90 years old, with onset dates ranging from April 1, 2022 to April 19 today (2022). Today, 800 of them were asymptomatic infections. The distribution of cases is New Taipei City (583 cases), Taipei City (287 cases), Taoyuan City (197 cases), Keelung City (148 cases), Hualien County (74 cases), Kaohsiung City (64 cases), Yilan County (61 cases) ), Taichung City (50 cases), Tainan City (45 cases), Hsinchu City (27 cases), Hsinchu County (20 cases), Pingtung County (17 cases), Miaoli County and Changhua County (12 cases each), Yun Lin County and Taitung County (8 cases each), Nantou County (4 cases), Chiayi County and Lianjiang County (3 cases each), Chiayi City (2 cases), and Penghu County (1 case). The related epidemic investigation is ongoing.
The command center pointed out that there were 2 new deaths today (case 30297 and case 31553), males in their 90s and under 5 years old respectively. The patient was diagnosed with severe infection on March 1, and the male case in his 90s had received 3 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and had a history of chronic disease. The two cases were treated with remdesivir and other drugs during hospitalization, and died on April 16 and April 19, respectively.
According to the command center, today’s new cases of immigration from abroad are 42 males and 59 females, ranging in age from under 5 to over 50 years old, from China, the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States (1 case each), and the other 97 cases Survey. The entry dates are from March 8 to April 18 this year. In addition, case 33593 announced on April 17 this year, case 35823 and case 35890 announced on April 18 this year, after the epidemic investigation, were changed to imported cases from Malaysia, Myanmar and the United States.
According to the statistics of the command center, up to now, a total of 7,777,985 new coronavirus pneumonia-related notifications (including 7,739,719 excluded) have been reported in Taiwan, of which 37,710 were confirmed, including 9,889 imported cases, 27,767 local cases, 36 Dunmu Fleet cases, 3 aircraft infections, 1 Unknown cases and 14 cases under investigation; no new cases with empty numbers, and a total of 198 cases were removed as empty numbers. Since 2020, a total of 856 COVID-19 deaths have occurred, of which 842 are local. The counties and cities where the cases reside are: 415 in New Taipei City, 322 in Taipei City, 30 in Keelung City, 28 in Taoyuan City, 15 in Changhua County, and 15 in Hsinchu County. 13 cases, 5 cases in Taichung City, 3 cases in Miaoli County, 2 cases each in Yilan County and Hualien County, and 1 case each in Hsinchu City, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County and Taitung County; 14 cases were imported from abroad.
