Coronavirus Taiwan - Specific Developments May/June 2022

Just to be clear: I liked that post as it provides a helpful (if depressing) update, and not because I like people assaulting pharamacists.

Daughter just had a week off because someone had covid in her class. Went back for two days. Now she is off again.

This was obviously going to happen.

Should be test and carry on but the government didn’t prepare enough tests.

Was this you? Man, the lengths people will go to these days.

But seriously, congrats on getting a test but condolences on the result. I would shoot for the biggest hospital near you and maybe call first. Good luck!

Yeah, I never assume people like posts because they agree with the information necessarily. But thanks for the Like.

Thanks for the update. Sad to see deaths and one younger one (20’s).

Chen notes 20% increase in cases. Says no sign of peaking yet. Likely underreported across all of Taiwan.

deaths

  • 20 y.o female, 3 doses
  • 70 y.o male, 3 doses
  • 70 y.o. female, 3 doses
  • 80 y.o. female, not vaccinated
  • 90 y.o. male, not vaccinated

71,873 Tested 39.54% positivity

I wonder what the heck the 20year old female with 3 doses is about, serious underlying condition?

The 20 yo 3 doses is scary.

Since my son came out Positive. That means now we need 10 days quarantine.

WHAT I DO WITH THE GARBAGE?
10days quarantine = a lot food left overs and diapers.

Does the Govt will send someone to pick up the trash at my door? Or I should try to play Basket throwing it from balcony to the garbage truck?

No. It’s not scary. It’s a random occurrence.

The chart @MalcolmReynolds posted says no history of chronic illness.

1922 is supposed to help with that but not sure if you can’t get through.

Covid is a disease that should not be taken lightly, even for low risk people.

It is a bit scary. I mean, sure, it happens randomly and that’s fine/to be expected, but it’s a bit surprising for it to happen when there’s so few deaths overall. I’d prefer the deaths to mostly stay away from age brackets younger than mine!

I’m in an upper age bracket so I’m all for a bit of spread.

Not sure what age bracket you’re in, but there’s almost 200 suspected deaths following vaccination mentioned in Taiwan’s VAERS for the 0-49 age groups. 1461 in total across all ages.

(A) did she have underlying conditions?

(B) how many 20 somethings out of the 100k or so cases diagnosed so far have gotten seriously ill?

Yeah, it’s not fun to read this, but important to keep perspective. Life, unfortunately, is not risk-free. But your odds are good, at least.

Yeah, I don’t doubt it, but I haven’t personally died from getting vaccinated yet. I’ve just transitioned from the 30-39 age bracket to the 40-49 age bracket.

Spring chicken.
