Coronavirus Vaccine in Taiwan - November/December 2021

Gentlemen, as you sort out these stats (which are relevant to Taiwan), I would also draw your attention to this more suitable thread to discuss more general matters:

We are inching toward 80% first shot coverage across the nation . . .

Check Far East Memorial Hospital. They have slots for AZ vaccines which they might have at the moment. You can book an appointment online, if available.

Because of the throughput and circumstances, those of you considering going for vaccination are unlikely to receive the legally-required “consenting” procedure, which would normally include an explanation of the risks you face, followed by a prescription for the drug from a qualified professional. You are effectively taking an OTC product with limited liability for harm. The onus is upon you to make an informed choice: you can’t be unvaccinated, and there is no comeback if things go wrong.

The only public information on risks comes from VAERS, which records a curated selection of adverse events. VAERS documents the fact that these events occur, but the rate at which they occur is not being investigated (with some notable exceptions, such as thrombosis and myocarditis), and thus the risk to any given individual is unknown.

You should be aware, nevertheless, that you assume a non-zero risk of life-changing injury or death, and the published figures give some approximate indication of the risk magnitude. You should weigh those risks in terms of the benefits you expect to gain from vaccination. With that said, here is the latest information from the FDA, which I will update from time to time.

AGE <18 18-50 50-65 65+ total
death 1 124 211 843 1179
critical injury 8 73 73 90 244
hospitalisation 177 908 536 746 2367
misc. serious events 273 1590 752 614 3229
non-serious events 576 4596 1396 939 7507
total vaccinations 1,136,260 17,783,028 8,242,118 5,915,704 33077110
serious injury/death per thousand 0.4 0.15 0.19 0.39 0.21
selected adverse events
arrhythmia 39
heart attack (MI) 208
cerebrovascular stroke 521
myocarditis 121
seizure 52
Guillain-Barre syndrome 25
disorders of the blood and circulation 421

“disorders of the blood and circulation” includes VITT, pulmonary embolism, and an assortment of other thrombotic events (clotting).

Be aware that drugs are normally assessed for withdrawal on the absolute number of harms caused: in other words, a drug that is sold in large quantities must be considerably safer than one which is rarely prescribed in order to maintain its market authorization. COVID vaccines have now surpassed the normal adverse-event trigger for product withdrawal by about two orders of magnitude, with no apparent concern from regulators. This in itself should give you pause for thought.

When Omicron shows up in the community, there will be quite a bit of this going on, unfortunately.

Don’t omit words in your translation

ç–‘äŒŒç–«è‹—æŽ„çšźćŸŒćšŽé‡äžè‰Żäș‹ä»¶
Suspected serious adverse events after vaccination

This applies to deaths too.

Almost sounds like it’s intentionally and deceptively designed to scare people away from vaccines.

The report is entitled: 1101214 Notification of Adverse Events after COVID-19 Vaccination.pdf

My post accurately reflects the actual title of the CECC report.

Wrong. Don’t mischaracterize. Read the actual title of the report, named by the CECC themselves.

But not the table you pulled the number from:
1639553508839

And you did not mention that fact when displaying the number.

Interesting that the deaths “with Covid-19” at 849 are less than the 1193 deaths from “Suspected Adverse events after Vaccination”. I wonder whether the same criteria is used to record both.

“Adverse events following vaccination” is in itself sufficient – “following” and “after” don’t necessarily imply a causal connection; they just mean that someone was vaccinated and later the adverse event happened.

I would say that the “suspected” is unnecessary here, unless the rest of the phrase was “Suspected adverse events due to vaccination” or similar (which it isn’t). If someone dies or has a severe blood clot, for example, the adverse event in itself isn’t “suspected”, as evidenced by the corpse or hospital patient. The causality may be ambiguous, but the adverse event isn’t.

I didn’t have to. I linked the CECC report. You can read it yourself, as can everyone else.

The CECC report is entitled: “Notification of adverse events after COVID-19 vaccination.” I have linked that report. A death in that table is one of those “adverse events after COVID-19 vaccination.”

The report says nothing about whether or not the COVID-19 vaccines have caused these adverse events, including deaths.

It would be better to be clear to avoid confusion if you post statistics. The deaths are deaths under “Suspected serious adverse events after vaccination”.

Are they dead, or suspected dead? Someone should really check.

Ask the people who made the statistics

You were confused? The CECC report is entitled “Notification of Adverse Events after COVID-19 Vaccination.” It’s a very clear unambiguous title. Anything in that report is thus an “Adverse event after COVID-19 vaccination,” is it not? Including the 1193 deaths.

The report doesn’t necessarily imply any definitive causality between (or explicit connection to) the COVID-19 vaccines and these adverse events, and neither did I, so why should you be at all confused?
