Costco Thread 2025

I noticed the onion machine has a lock on the lid. New? So no scooping out. Just longer cranking.

They always had a lock on the lid. It’s probably more to prevent tampering than theft.

Anyone got a hankering for a whole Serrano ham leg?

That’s almost 50% off. Hmmmmmm.

There’s the turkey day main course for youse and yours in Taiwan. Bet it’s pretty tasty.

I’m tempted, but that’s just too much slicing… :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Just treat it like a chicken leg?

I’m a cow, not a wolf. :slightly_smiling_face:

Any sightings of pumpkin pie? Asking for my wife.

We haven’t seen any. My wife went last week.

Oh I’ve never tried that from Costco! Now I’m hoping it shows up. I know it’s been there in the past, but does it reliably appear at this time of year, or is it more like a couple of times a decade?

Follow-up question for other seasonal treats: anyone know if the eggnog + alcohol mix is in stock yet? I finally got a Christmas tree from Costco last year, and I figure I’ll put it out this year when I pour my first glass of eggnog.

Not seen either of those when I last went about a week ago, but would expect to see pumpkin pie by this weekend, and egg nog a bit later. They’ve had them both in time for Thanksgiving/Christmas pretty consistently for years now.

Pumpkin pie often shows up, but it’s been missing some years. If you get lucky, don’t forget to pick up some whipped cream. That will be a lot of whipped for one pie, but you can always spray some in your mouth after the pie is gone!

Our tree is already up. My wife really loves the season. We haven’t seen any eggnog, either, but I often pass on that anyway.

I think you’re right about that, now that I think about it. We may need to go next week.

Today’s dark and gray enough that the tree may go up (well, be unboxed) within hours. I want that cheer.

Goddamn Taipei, it’s been what, four weeks since the summer heat broke? And we’re already apparently into winter?

I always whip cream at home, often with added vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, etc. If I make too much, it’s still OK the next day. Or I can, I dunno, eat it on a cracker or with a spoon.

Now I’m unreasonably eager for an incredibly unhealthy dinner of pumpkin pie and eggnog. Not that I have past form of buying baked goods from Costco, having ā€œjust a bitā€ when getting home, and then realizing later, nah, there’s no need for dinner now.

Huge discount on burger patties.

Dragon beef patties???

It’s the cheapest ground beef you can find, cheaper than the 3kg packs sold in the meat section. I think it used to be the Kirkland brand but got turned into red dragon for some odd reason. The quality didn’t change.

You can make meat loaf and other stuff with it. The only downside is that it’s more fat than the ones in the meat section.

The discount made it even cheaper.

Maybe because beef prices in the US are through the roof. My wife and I were talking about how we need to start checking if Costco starts sourcing New Zealand and Australia beef.

The red dragon stuff is from new Zealand, says it right on the package.

I think Costco has Australian beef that’s generally cheaper than American.

I think if you buy large blocks, you could get beef for around 400 per kg.
