šŸ˜· COVID - Taiwan | Home Quarantine

Hopefully they know theyā€™re pushing their luck. They might deny escaping, but OTOH they surely realise now that people are keeping an eye on them. Saving face will probably keep them indoors from now on.

No more home quarantine ā€¦ darn it, with my likely 2nd AZ shot next week, and the changing quarantine rules there, my chances of visiting Canada this summer had increased from none to slim. But no home quarantine when coming back here drops the chances again. Whatā€™s the numerical value for half of slim?

Eventually the quarantine rules will be changed, especially for those who are vaccinated, but ā€œeventuallyā€ could be a long time.

According to the translation of the CDC announcement, people who come from the high-risk countries donā€™t have to pay for government-run quarantine? But people who donā€™t have to pay for their quarantine accommodations?

Great excuse to visit a high-risk country before returning! Although at the current rate of Delta spread, most countries will probably be ā€œhigh-riskā€ before long.

According to my friend /Taiwanese person/ from 27th of June all people who have been to Brazil, India, Peru, Israel, Indonesia, Bangladesh and the UK in the last 14 days /transfer/ have to be in quarantine 14 days government quarantine place /free/.

Other people who have not been to these 7 countries have to be in quarantine hotel /free/ or government place /have to pay/ā€¦

so pissed off now!

?

Thatā€™s not what the CDC link says. It says that if you come from a high-risk country, you have to stay in a centralized quarantine station and the government will cover the expense. If you donā€™t come from a high-risk country, you have to stay at a centralized quarantine station or quarantine hotel at your own expense.

Good news is that the way Delta is spreading, every country will probably be a high-risk country in a month or so. Wonder what the government will do then?

Not quite.

I am flying out in a week time and coming back on 15th of August. Hope things will change by thenā€¦

No, itā€™s 14 days.

What do you mean? Only 7 days of quarantine or I have to pay for 7 days and the government pays the rest?

Sorry. 14 days for everybody. Was thinking of special permissions.

You pay unless youā€™re coming from seven countries named.

No this is what the cdc translation says

ā€œAll inbound passengers outside the travel history of the aforementioned 7 countries should stay in the epidemic prevention lodging or stay at the centralized quarantine station at their own expense for 14 days after entry, and cooperate with the PCR test before the expiration of the home quarantine period.ā€

What Iā€™m worried about, besides the money, is the availability of quarantine hotels. it seems that there may be a fair amount of people trying to return so what if they run out of quarantine rooms?

Thatā€™s too logical a question for the authorities to think about.

Do you guys know websites where a hotel room for quarantine can be booked? Have they released any website addresses?

https://www.novoteltaipeiairport.com/

They have a lovely meet and greet buffet where people undergoing quarantine can enjoy the company of domestic tourists.

Note: this is a joke. Some people will get it.

This is only for the seven countries listed correct? I couldnā€™t find anything saying itā€™s all countries.

7 countries: free lodging and meals at government quarantine facility

Not 7 countries: quarantine hotel on your own budget

See point B of CECC announcement:

A. Travelers arriving in Taiwan from ā€œkey high-risk countriesā€(including those who have visited those countries in the past 14 days and those who have transited in those countries): after they enter Taiwan via airport or port, such travelers will be required to quarantine in group quarantine facilities for 14 days and undergo PCR tests for COVID-19 upon checking in at group quarantine facilities and at the end of their quarantine period; such travelers are not required to pay group quarantine facility accommodation and testing fees. Currently, ā€œkey high-risk countriesā€ include Brazil, India, the UK, Peru, Israel, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.

B. Travelers arriving Taiwan from countries other than the seven countries will be required to stay in a quarantine hotel or a group quarantine facility at their own expense for 14 days after arrival; they shall also undergo a PCR test before the end of their quarantine period.

C. Flight crew members of Taiwanese airlines, after returning to Taiwan from ā€œkey high-risk countriesā€, shall undergo home quarantine for 14 days and take a PCR test at the end of their quarantine period; they shall also stay in a quarantine hotel or a company dormitory that meets related regulations.
