Well, that is completely untrue.
I wouldn’t try ecstasy even if the dealer looks like David Gandy.

Don’t forget benzos. Over the counter at the “right” pharmacy. It’s also prescribed like candy here.
Yea, can get Xanax just by asking. I use it very sparingly though.
What a waste, gotta IM that stuff.
Or coke
Most meth is made in labs in Myanmar because the north is so lawless. China also makes it, and I’m sure Taiwan does too, but trafficking it requires levels of corruption that don’t really exist in East Asia as much. I’m actually really surprised that Taiwan doesn’t have the Yabba or Shabu Shau problems that SE Asia has. It must be a cultural thing.
It was huge here about 20 years ago. Just ask the moderator of this site about "Night Owls"![]()
And still pretty common, although not like back then. Lots of petty crime is associated with meth use.
Still surprising Yabba isn’t an issue here though. The stuff is super nasty, and it has already taken over places like Vietnam.
Meth is all over Taoyuan.

But meth is an issue here. It’s just that people don’t like to talk about it because it’s seen as a low-class drug associated with truck drivers, factory workers, petty criminals, etc. Meth is all over Taiwan if you know where to look.

Saw a tweaker last time I was at Youth Park in Taipei.
That was me.
That was me.

There is also a huge gang bust today or yesterday on the news. Over 40 firearms of various types, lots of various drugs, etc.

Why is it any more nasty than.any other high category drugs or are you just saying all class A and B drugs are nasty? And in Taiwan they.call it Ice not Yabba.
“right” pharmacy.
they common, or do u mean some dodgy unlicensed plarmacy.
Meth is all over Taoyuan.
lemme guess, zhongli?
Depends on what you mean by problem.
Illegal drug use is not that common and addiction isn’t a rampant issue. More alcoholics than anything.
The problem is that there are some addicts and they have basically little to no help here for them to recover. The culture here of such taboo about any drugs is a double edge sword. People are engrained that it’s bad and shameful and avoid it. But it makes it impossible for anyone addicted to seek much public help.
Taiwan still has a long way to go before the laws and people accept that drug abuse is a public health issue and should be treated as such rather than criminal.
Oh wow, it’s more of a middle class and lower class thing in SE Asia. Guess it’s becoming huge because people can finally afford enough of it to stay lit until they become addicted. Didn’t know it was so abundant here. Guess it’s hard to see when everything outside of the bubble I live is is super distant.
