Ethereum : possible to get 2-5 times your investment in 2018

I’m still down so got a way to go here. It is good advice. One thing I struggle with is that the Taiwan stock market is rubbish and US has topped out. Property in Taiwan would absorb all the rest of my cash and then some.

If you think (US) stocks are going down, you can look into Inverse Index Funds, preferably ETFs. These exist in a lot of markets and are basically a bet against the market. Since stocks are bound to go down eventually, it’s only a matter of time until Inverse Funds turn positive.

Portfolio up 40% in a week.
This year crypto will go mainstream it’s already been an insane ride and it’s only April!

(Ethereum is still 53% down from all time high so not trying to make out that I’m a genius or anything )

Hang on in there thems are rough seas.

Personally I think big traders are toyng with us through Bitcoin moves.(possibly connected to futures ) but there is more momentum towards upside than down this year . And if there are massive run ups there’s usually a pull back and consolidation phase anyway… I was looking at the FOMO around EOS two days ago I knew that was just too much .

Just a guess.

Yes would be a safer play. I have about 15% ETh, 20% Neo, 20% OMG, 10% NANO, 10% IOTA , bunch of other stuff too. Look into COV…covesting.

Safest plays prob ETH, BTC, XRP…Maybe 60% in them would be a great base.

Crypto market is just 0.5% of all stock markets right now.

I just started investing on GDAX. I invested all of my $100 on 4/24/2018!
$50 less $0.15 fee on BTC at $9,657.32, and $50 less $0.15 fee on ETH at $706.01!
It hurtsss… I believed i bought them at peak! Brianjones you made me do it! LOL!
Can you mentor me in day trading?

Welcome to Crypto.

I am down a lot more than that you are lucky . But Summer is coming.

Not a day trader really. Although yesterday I day traded on OMG when it listed on Bitthumb exchange suddenly , pumping the price. Sold part of the stack at high and bought back in at the eventual dump a few hours later. But usually I don’t bother with that stuff.

I saw the price of BTC is back above $8,000 already. Looks like I’ll have to wait a while to pick up boatloads for cheap…

It tested 10k for a while there.

EDIT: How to delete post?

Welcome back!

… and there doesn’t seem to have been enough liquid 02 to fuel that rocketship to the moon.
More like gliding back to planet Earth after not breaking 10k.
Now hovering over 8k range.

The recent Consensus meeting was a damp squib .

There’s no guarantee it couldn’t drop further. I probably have too much invested in this already. I still like ENG, ICX, BAT, EOS. EOS and ENG had some big launches coming up and EOS did drop back substantially from a few weeks ago. It is definitely one of the major contenders in future. They have massive investment funds from the ICO and a fairly good developer base and community. I think mainnet is next month.

BAT and the Brave Browser is a good use case. 5 million downloads and a useful product. Again very capable team who were involved with Netscape and Mozilla previously.

Flixxo is a really interesting opportunity as market cap is only 10 million USD and is a video sharing dApp ready to launch beta very soon. Another capable team supposedly , guys behind it launched popcorntime. It’s got high risk high reward written all over it. The longtail of YouTubers earn almost nothing from their videos. This could really even the playing field.

ENG is aiming to be the king of secret contracts. Its complete unknown as to whether this will ever take off but I’ve put a few % in as they very unique in their positioning and MIT behind them.

ETH is still the big daddy of protocols would always have portion of crypto funds in ETH.

Some folks here are accusing me of pumping crypto stocks. They got it all wrong, it’s more a hobby that I am heavily invested in and I share the things I have learned over the last six months. No different than the Taiwan Cycling threads or your Favorite Burger place or Tommy’s ’ this is my life ’ thread.

A lot of negative folks on here who really don’t seem to get I’m just having a laugh with the Moon and Rocketship memes. It’s a crypto thing.

I find it interesting. New concept of investing, new product with its own rules, so far not too much underlying value (as in revenues and profit), but definitely some potential. You can win big, but you could also lose big, only time will tell.

That being said crypto is a bit too much excitement for me. I like to stick to stocks and ETFs in markets I think I know. If I think the economy is going up, I buy stocks, if I think it’s going down, I buy inverse ETFs. On the whole I am doing well, but I won’t realise the returns of some crypto investors.

More of a Kia than a rocketship.

What do you reckon now, economy up or down ? Stocks or Inverse ETFs?

I am mindful to buy Google stock because I see the very rapid advance of AI and of course it’s a lot more stable than crypto… It would also be a kind of an insurance fund in case we and our offspring all lose our jobs.

Currently I have 20% of my portfolio in levered inverse ETFs (if the market goes down by 1%, I make 2%, and vice versa) and 80% in stocks. Within 3 months, I aim to change to 40% ETFs, but I am waiting to sell a few more stocks.

This is an interesting perspective that seems to explain a lot of whats been happening and why everytime theres a rally the price automatically drops again. Price control by CME they came into the market and made an announcement in Nov 2017 they would tame bitcoin prices by entering the market.

CME Group Inc. (Chicago Mercantile Exchange & Chicago Board of Trade) is an American financial market company operating an options and futures exchange. It owns and operates large derivatives and futures exchanges in Chicago, New York City, and exchange facilities in London, using online trading platforms.[2][3] It also owns the Dow Jones stock and financial indexes, and CME Clearing Services, which provides settlement and clearing of exchange trades

Hahahaha.
They’ve been saying the same thing about gold (price suppression by the “powers that be”, etc.).
Actually, it’s been proven, too, in the case of gold, given the investigations into the gold cartel banks whose traders have been charged with such, and the fines that some of the big banks have had to pay.

Welcome to the club of this kind of “talk”.

Silver was also a famous case of price manipulation , in the case it was absolutely true though.
