Ideas for a 'foreign' staycation and/or adventure in Taiwan?

I’m now in an aboriginal village behind zengwen reservoir in chiayi and it’s unbelievably quiet (except for sounds of frogs and insects ) and chilled out with subtropical plants everywhere around us. Great coffee and tea and fruit and kaorou. Learning about Tsou culture… It’s not foreign but it is even better than that. There’s few tourists as most of them are jammed onto the road up to Alishan and the East coast. It really is the anti Taiwan but still real Taiwan

If you are talking about 茶山村, it is a beautiful place. Which place are you staying?

Bingo

Great places there , less visited. Must be cooler there, tonight here in Kaoshiung it is much cooler this evening (no air con for me)

I am having a most excellent staycation right now.

I’ve had a staycation 22-26 July before I return back home to Covid-19! UK.
Su’ao Township.

Absolutely beautiful

Pubu and Fumarole both liked this post.
What were the odds of that ? :joy:

Who doesn’t like a nice waterfall…

Pubu I hit THREE waterfalls in a row today all in full flow and awesome . What do you think ?:sunglasses:

Unfortunately I can only give one like per post so you’ll have to spread the waterfall pics out.

Nice Photos ! Land crab or from the river/lake? And the 56 wine (I had wine 66 from Italy last week)

Yes it’s the first river crab I have seen here .Used to be common but not these days.

sounds like your staycation is where others want to vacation !

you can also take one of these flights. they have graduated from a totally fake flight to a flight to nowhere and back

Staycation is still awesome this morning even with some light rain . In fact we have had afternoon thunderstorns and it barely bothered us ( mostly cos we avoided the waterfalls and deep valleys when they happened).

The only ‘foreign’ thing I’m really looking for is a good breakfast.

My staycation involved going to Long Dong Bay and getting my PADI Open Water certificate with my daughter. Everything was packed into two days and we stayed at home (but using their very basic accommodation was included in the price). It was great fun and I’m thoroughly enjoying this summer so far without dealing with all the hassle and expense of leaving the country.

Breakfast: Congee, 肉鬆 (meat floss, can be done with fish too), 蛋餅 (egg crepe roll), soy milk… :yum:

In lieu of a western breakfast, this particular combination is my favorite :yum:

That’s the sound of the men
Working on the chain gang.

Doesn’t mention how much they get paid and how much goes to the Center.

Not a single question posed in that report about wages. Terrible reporting! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Guy

Maybe there are no wages.
