Joe Biden: U.S. President

and this. WTF is wrong with this guy?

Does the CDC approve of giving I’m going with used masks to children of politicians, who, well trained apparently, put it in their pockets?

https://news.yahoo.com/biden-tells-andrew-cuomo-quit-204954661.html“I think he should resign,” Biden said on Tuesday afternoon, during a briefing updating the federal government’s vaccination program. Biden said that while “the state legislature may decide to impeach,” he would leave calls for Cuomo’s impeachment to leaders in Albany.

It followed a similar call from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who said in a statement, “Recognizing his love of New York and the respect for the office he holds, I call upon the Governor to resign.”

I always did that as a kid. When I had garbage, I would ask someone to hold it a second then refuse to take it back.

Biden has skills.

Good move. Lots of fresh grads and people who got laid off need this to get back on track.

They can’t declassify because it will expose China’s links as the real mastermind, and retaliation for China Embassy in Belgrade 1999.

Oh that’s good. You should come out to play more often. Most people have forgotten that.

So George W, Bush, Obama, and Trump knew China was involved but refused to release the info? OK, maybe Bush and Obama are so eager for trade with China that they’re willing to do a cover-up of a mass murder of US citizens, but what’s Trump’s reason? Ivanka’s handbag contracts?

Weinstein Fixers Donated to the Biden Campaign and Serve in the White House - Washington Free Beacon

Good news for Biden on the $1 trillion infrastructure bill, with 19 Republican Senators joining Democrats in passing it.
Now, the hold up is in the House, where Pelosi says she won’t pass it until the Senate takes up the $3.5 trillion bill proposed by the Democrats.

To return to the trolls’ questions: Do Biden’s critics want the president to fail? I don’t. I want our foreign enemies deterred, inflation contained, and the border secured. I wish Joe Biden good health. Where his policies are failing, as so many are, I want him to change them—or pay a heavy price on Election Day. That’s democracy. In 2022 and 2024, voters can assess the results, go to the polls, and send Biden and his party a sharp, clear message. Yea or nay.

Mitch McConnell said it about Obama

“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president,” he said in the interview.

And repeated it about Biden

One-hundred percent of our focus is on stopping this new administration,” McConnell said, adding, “We’re confronted with severe challenges from a new administration, and a narrow majority of Democrats in the House and a 50-50 Senate to turn America into a socialist country, and that’s 100 percent of my focus.”

And so he should.

Just lie. It’s the right thing to do.

Reposting this quote:

Aram Roston and Nandita Bose, “Excerpts of call between Joe Biden and Ashraf Ghani July 23,” Reuters, September 1, 2021

That thing seems kind of technical to me.

A little review (I’m aware that the nomenclature of these things–as well as opinions of what is correct and incorrect–may vary):

John C. Hodges and Mary E. Whitten, Harbrace College Handbook (6th edition, 1967), p. 292

(I found that on the Internet Archive, but I had to log in to get access to it.)

Unfortunately, in this situation the reader is reading words that were originally spoken, not written, and people don’t usually do a meticulous self-editing job as they speak.

In my view, in the portion of the President’s conversation which is quoted above, there are two possible antecedents to the pronoun it: (1) perception and (2) picture. So the question for me is whether the President meant:

(1) Whether the negative perception around the world and in parts of Afghanistan is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture.

OR whether the President meant

(2) We need to project a different picture, whether the different picture that we project is a true one or not.

I give the President the benefit of the doubt, and I vote for interpretation (1).

That is, I vote for antecedent (1) and sentence (1). I vote that the President was not suggesting that he or some other person(s) ought to paint a deceptive picture of the situation if necessary or desirable, but that rather, he was expressing uncertainty about the accuracy of other people’s negative perception of the war.

What would the different picture be? That things weren’t not going well?

When it’s impossible to change the reality, change the perception seems to be what he was saying.

He didn’t address the reality. I think “whether true or not” means “could be true, could be not true.” The two key words were perception (other people’s negative one) and picture (the more positive one he indicated he would like to project). I don’t think he thought he could make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, but maybe he was hoping to make a passable pigskin purse.

After the leaders of the Ten Thousand (who had fought on the losing side) tried to negotiate with the Persians and were killed, there was probably a perception among the Ten Thousand that things weren’t going too well in terms of the fight against the Persians (to put it mildly). But I think Xenophon felt there was a need to project a different picture, which went something like, “We can’t stay here, but I think we can handle these guys well enough get our asses out of here.”

And that’s pretty much what they did.
