Let's talk about Trump

That’s rich, I respect people right to choose political affiliation, I could ask you to control yourself, but you proudly declare you have no intention of respecting peoples right to chose a political affiliation different from yours.

Which by the way, is much more in line with fascist thinking, kind of what the brown shirts used to do.

Rather than an opinion-based partisan back and forth, why don’t we look at the criteria for what constitutes fascism and decide from there?

The 14 characteristics are:

  1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

  2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.” The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

  3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

  4. Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

  5. Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

  6. Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

  7. Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

  8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government’s policies or actions.

  9. Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

  10. Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .

  11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

  12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

  13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

  14. Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Why, who did I personally attack?

He checks many boxes obviously.

Even if Biden is way ahead on election night (mail in would still have to be counted over the next couple weeks regardless), Trump is going to scream fraud and try to get Trump friendly states to cast their electoral votes against the majority vote.

Either you are respectful of peoples rights to political affiliation or you are not.

You have proudly stated you are not and would discriminate on that basis. It’s that kind of mentality that leads to people burning down peoples property and attacking people on the street. There was one case of grown women attacking a 7 year old, none of this seems to give you pause for thought.

Got any examples of someone wearing a Biden 2020 shirt getting attacked for no reason? Someone with Biden 2020 flag getting their house burned down? A Biden 2020 sticker on their car getting vandalized?

No, the violence is pretty much one way. And on cue “BuT tHe PrOud BoIs”

Not quite how it works.

I respect your right to affiliate with a political party.
You respect my right to hire and fire based on it.

Do you ever stop and wonder what might be causing a very small minority of the left - which I fear you do not have accurately proportioned in your head - to engage in violence?

Dogs are not the only creatures that lash out when they feel as if they are pushed into a corner. When people feel pushed to the brink, they will lash out. You probably have not ever encountered that level of desperation.

While being blindsided by and hastily reacting to the symptom instead of hunting for the root of the illness has long been in vogue for policymakers the US (war on drugs, war on terror, etc), I believe you are intellectually capable of not falling into this fallacy.

Just know that Trump is trying his damnedest to make that very small minority on the left that has resorted to violence…larger in number. How? He constantly makes them out to be more dangerous, funded, organized, and plentiful than they actually are, while also doing everything he can to antagonize those who are on the ideological fence.

America loses from this behavior.

Fortunately it seems the trend is to make it illegal to discriminate on that basis as law changes are being increasingly applied.

Perhaps it used to be something that everyone knew not to do. Now it seems States are increasingly spelling it out for those who can’t figure it out for themselves.

However, in a growing trend, a number of states have passed laws creating this right. In these states, employers may not take unfavorable job actions (i.e., termination, demotion) based on political affiliation or activity. These states include:

  • California . In California, employers may not control the political affiliation or activities of workers. Employers cannot threaten to terminate workers for refusing to engage in specific political activity.
  • Colorado . In Colorado, an employer may not prevent employees from engaging in political activities. An employer may not terminate an individual because of political affiliation.
  • District of Columbia . In the District of Columbia, employers cannot discriminate against employees based on political affiliation.
  • Louisiana . Louisiana law prohibits employers from threatening or intimidating individuals on account of political party affiliation.
  • Minnesota . Minnesota law prevents employers from financially retaliating against, or threatening to fire, an individual based on that individual’s political activities.
  • Montana . Under Montana law, an employee may only be terminated for “good cause.” That is, the termination must be based on reasonable grounds related to work performance. Termination based on political activity is prohibited. Termination based on political affiliation is prohibited.
  • Nebraska . Employers may not threaten to terminate individuals based on their political activities.
  • New Jersey . New Jersey law prohibits employers from requiring employees to take part in employer-sponsored meetings about the employer’s political opinions or positions.
  • New York . Employers cannot discriminate against employees based on their off-duty, off-premises political activities.
  • South Carolina . Employers may not terminate a citizen from employment because of that person’s political opinions or activities.
  • Wisconsin . Wisconsin law also prohibits employers from threatening to terminate employees based on political activity.

But if they bring it to the workplace, you can fire them. As I’ve mentioned before I don’t like workplace politics regardless of affiliation.

These problems usually never surface anyway as it’s SOP to do background checks on applicants, including their social media.

President Trump-

“They go out and buy tuna fish and soup…they throw it. It’s the perfect weight, tuna fish, they can really rip it…And that hits you…Bumble Bee brand tuna…and [the cops are not allowed to fight back…”

I think the federal government should immediately issue slices of bread (white, of course) and jars of mayonnaise to police departments all over the country so they can turn this menace into tuna salad sandwiches- crackers and spoons for the soup.

Bumble Bee official response “Eat 'em, don’t throw 'em”.

Bumble Bee, it’s worth noting, publicly opposed (https://www.undercurrentnews.com/2018/09/20/bumble-bee-trumps-tuna-tariffs-devastating-for-firm/) Trump’s 2018 tariffs on China. Their main competitor, StarKist, supported the tariffs.

“Dear Antifa Central- I have a dilemma. Like all good anarchists of course I hate America and love China (not like Donald loves Kim Jong Un- a love that pure only comes once a lifetime), so naturally I’d buy Bumble Bee, except they have been accused of using dolphin-unfriendly methods of catching tuna. Also, tomato soup has that nice red splatter, but minestrone has more weight. What’s a screaming hateful wild-eyed rioter to do?”

Fine. You put them up in your guest room.

Anti-discrimination laws are always nice gestures, but difficult to enforce.

Didn’t AOC say something earlier this summer about the very small group of people actually behind the Boston Tea Party? I believe her point was it doesn’t take much to tip the cow.

I’ve never tipped a cow. I have no quarrel with cows. They leave me alone, I leave them alone.

I’ve pushed over a tall tree with my bare hands. In certain circumstances it is not merely possible, but actually quite easy. I recommend gloves.

I’ve never wanted Trump to retweet anything…but this one…well…

I reckon it’s more likely Nadler has hip or knee problems than that he shit his pants. It’s also possible that one of his legs fell asleep, probably due to Nadler’s obvious aversion to physical activity, perhaps life itself.

That said, I ain’t about to bet on Nadler’s good faith (or any that of any Democrat at this point). I’d much rather speculate about it, or wager against it.

I think his legs are getting shorter.

Is that even possible given that he’s allegedly mammalian?

Pretty sure he would be led out of the House, possibly by a trail of chicken gizzards, due to monitor lizard masquerading as a human bean.

eta: note to anybody running against Nadler in NY. The gizzard theory is testable, you know.

he’s the new Penguin in the upcoming Batman flick
