Sorry didnt read past this post. Maybe mentioned already.
To put it very basic. If you put yourself into the oppressor role (parent, boss, teacher, etc) good fucking luck. Try impressing them outside the filial slavery that taiwanese girls are rightfully afraid/tired of.
Meet a person hiking, diving, photographing or whatever passionate hobbies are equality neutral…find some cool ass life partners. Speaking from experience
Using work to find love starts with the wrong power narrative. Normally wont work. Instead, start equal and evolve to do work together. Easier.
I went out with someone for a few dates, I thought we had a great time, was getting all the signals. Then when I texted her one evening and said miss you… how’s your day? she said to me ‘stop being awkward’. That was a big yikes. I didn’t know what to say then. Last time I reached out to her.
Saw her a year later in public and she was with a friend and demanded to know why I deleted her on line. I said you made it clear you weren’t interested. She said ok.
Another woman was visiting my home country while I was there but on the other side of the country. Invited her to my city, said I’d pay the tab if needed. Too busy (read: doing nothing) she said, than wanted me to return to Taiwan at the same time she did although she didn’t want to come here before she left. Tried to keep in touch when she returned, no reply.
To OPs situation, I do think that there is often a breakdown between what is on the local lasses minds and what is actually conveyed. They can do a lot of very close boyfriend things with you while still not considering you for a relationship which can give western guys the wrong impression at times as we are more direct.
I have had a few over the years say they miss me very quickly, and it is scary and pushes me away. It doesnt mean I’m not interested, just please slow down! That said, i mentioned the one that got away upthread, and part of the problem was probably that i came on too strong like this because i really liked that girl!
I didn’t mean it to be creepy, I just did miss her. Maybe she construed it as too strong. But I see my local friends go at it directly often with good results, even when the conversations become super sappy and corny.
Ok the secret that worked for me back in the day was
not to verbally ask permission but simply to do it
like initiate some physical contact , stand next to her , put your arm around her
If there is no resistance find an opportunity to hug her etc
Asking if you can grab her and hug her puts the onus of responsibility on her
She doesn’t want to be the bad girl or to be seen as a bad girl
But it may be ok if your are the bad boy that she probably thinks and hopes you are
Of course this could all backfire and she takes off like a Saturn Five as had happened to me a few times but then you know where you stand
Of course you have to read if she’s enjoying your company or not
No? Back off immediately and keep it all in the friendzone and don’t go on another date
