This bit is quite interesting to me, especially from the point of view of having a class project.
I’m thinking of suggesting that they create an online questionnaire for market research purposes, to find out who their potential audience is and what that audience is ready for.
If it’s well-presented, which is a process we can do as a class, then it may be something they can get free publicity for. A group of girls making a porn movie as part of an English class, with a website explaining the project and introducing the team… Hmm, this could do wonders for my career.
From there they could go on to publish their findings, and an outline of the script, followed by a prospectus to try and raise money for it.
They could add a ‘join the team’ page, in fact they would have to. The first thing investors are going to look at is the people involved, and the more people with something to contribute there are, the better the chance of raising some money.
The chances of actually getting funding are pretty slim, but it would be an interesting process to go through. I imagine that few VC execs would be able to resist the prospect of having half a dozen attractive girls come in to talk about porn, even if the commercial realities prevent actual investment. What better way to improve your presentation skills than to do it for real, with real money at stake? I’m just loving where this is going.
Distribution could be done via Ann Summers style parties at peoples houses, all girls together, maybe with the opportunity to buy some toys etc as well as the porn. Of course you would probably need a selection of flicks to choose from. Those who are interested can be signed up as agents to run their own parties and so on.

While in that fantasy world, a male can project himself onto the male in the video, pretending it’s him that is the glistening firm muscular with the 10" err who makes women go “Ohhhhhhhhh” or has nothing but goreous women coming after him. Oh and by the way, I have had at least 3 relationships where the girl was the one to reach for the hotel room porn button way before me. I think a lot of girls enjoy traditional porn but maybe feel that they cannot/should not say so?
Have her do a lesbian porn? Oh god that is a male thing unless you are a lesbian. Most women don’t like watching two women make out unless you are a lesbian. Doen’t sound like that’s her audiance.
Anyone remember that great movie from the 80’s— 9 1/2 weeks. That was about as porn as you could get with a great story line. What didn’t make it porn was we couldn’t see all the ‘naughty’ bits. Also, Wild Orchard (one of my fave movies) was also a bit on the porn side. And it had a story that was decent to it. Have her check out those movies and see how she can take the story development as well as how they intergrated the sex into her idea of what her target audiance wants.
I think a good porn movie for women IMO is one where it leaves both sexs drawn into a world of exotic possiblities. Ones that could actually happen but yet people don’t do it, so they are able to be voyers(sp) and project themselves onto the characters/identify with the characters. A good basic understanding about scriptwriting and film is what she needs.
People watch movies to escape the real world yet, watch the real world in a way they wish it could be. So, a good ‘porn’ movie would give people a stimulate people on many levels.
your student wants a story between two people with changes occuring from the beginning to the end of the film.
so how about a story about a couple that begins when they meet. they date for a while, become close, and then get intimate. at first it’s exciting but also a bit awkward because they dont each other all that well yet. as time goes on they become closer and the sex gets better as a result. by the end of the film they know each other and each others bodies like the back of their hand, and know what makes the other go crazy.
im sure you could find a film student to help with the cinematography to make it visually appealing and sexy.

Honestly Loretta I think you are going to have a tough go of it. If you simply create an extraordinary situation in which reasonably intelligent people with a spark of intensity and humor about them are allowed to react naturally then you have a chance of getting something on film that doesn’t look corny; but the minute you try to write a script and ask people to actually act then you are in over your head. Those things take training and talent. Of course just trying to do this is great fun and a great way to learn English and all that but your finished product is going to look lousy probably.
If your student is intent on just one girl (herself I am assuming) then perhaps she would still be interested in more than one man. If she was an interviewing talent for a porn movie she could actually just do that and film what happens. Make a list of questions that women would like to ask (this list could be constructed by way of your online survey - you could even give hints as to who might be in the film) and things they would like to see men do and have her run through a list as she sees fit.
Again you might be able to give each scene a name after the fact depending on what happens “The shy guy” “John Long” whatever. Together it might add up to some sort of theme or it might just add up to some real interaction in a hilarious setting. One thing I can tell you for sure about women’s sexuality is that honest emotion and humor go a long way. Namahottie might say I’m generalizing here but somehow I suspect I have been in bed with a lot more women that her.
Nobody here is smart enough to develop any grand themes I don’t think.
Distribution? Are you kidding me? “Taiwanese English student makes porn film as class assignment?” The DVD’ll be sellotaped to every copy of Apple Daily and Next magazine and they’ll sell out within a couple of hours.
It would probably also be good for a full week on TVBS “news.”
On second thought I suspect that one good theme that might come out of this naturally is that foriegn men are not necessarily all the dumb hard ons people think we are.

It may also work to just do one interview or to do a few and just keep the best. Keep the list idea and use that as a basic framework. The conversation that sparks off of this may give you ideas for a rough script dialogue, character development etc. that could actually be rehearsed and acted out. It’s possible I guess. Has anybody asked Paogao about this. He is the real resident expert isn’t he?
Reading your replies and loretta’s thoughts, it seems as if she really isn’t out to make a porn movie, but perhaps a movie that has commom themes like regular ones yet her flick would have full on sex. So what would you call that? A porn movie to me is that "chicka chicka boom " bad music with corny lines like “Captain Blowhard, she’s gonna blow now”
She says she doesn’t intend to appear in the film, and unless she can talk me into it she’ll probably have a local guy provide the willy. Or Almas John could volunteer, I suppose.
bob, I’m liking your ideas. Not sure if she will though. It’s her thing, not mine, and I suspect it’ll never get past being an idea. There’s a hell of a lot of work to do to bring something like this to finished product status, and a lot of obstacles to overcome.
Still, life’s about solving problems and someone has to ‘audition’ all those eager young starlets. I’m intrigued by the whole process. The researching, planning, fundraising, production, actual filming, and all the rest of it sounds like an absolute blast. I’ve always been interested in what makes women tick, and this is a great way to find out.
And it’s better than “Hi, my name’s Charles, but you can call me Chuck,” or whatever it is I’m supposed to be teaching.
