Owners are super nice too. Seems like a family run place if I remember correctly. Overall, a million times better than what masa has become
I didn’t realize I was hungry until I clicked on that. Now I’m ravenous.
What has Masa become? Haven’t been in a couple years. But had a pretty good impression from my last visit.
Tamales
Teotihuacan Mexican Restaurant 墨西哥料理 has them.
I like them even though they come with a lot of toppings as I like mine fairly basic.
The other food is good.
Pàng Taqueria / PÀNG TACO / 胖 塔可利亞
Walked by here again today I’m still intending to try it out. Nice food pictures and just 2 minutes from Masa Taco that seems on the decline or minimally lost its soul.
Kind of odd hours. A restaurant should reliably be open whenever customers want to go or else customers won’t even think about it. With all the bars in the neighborhood you would think they stay open later than 9:00 p.m. but it seems like they’re just targeting the business hours customers.
I’ve never been there before the alleged change in quality; it’s still the first Mexican place I’ve been to in Taiwan as of a month ago… Even Taco Joe at Lehua Night Market in Yonghe District NWT was subtly better, although their Al Pastor (or simply on the menu as pork; I was actually expecting it to be carnitas) seems a bit over-sweetened with no spicy kick to it at all.
Masa’s quality is kinda mid; it’s not the best Mexican food I’ve had, but I’ve definitely had MUCH worse… I just went there because they have authentic ingredients that are even hard to find in LA (e.g. birria, lengua, etc.)…
After a chat with the employee, it seems that the owner isn’t even Mexican, just an Asian guy who liked the food enough to open a Mexican food shop in Taiwan. Nothing inherently wrong with that in my opinion, but some people would at least prefer to have the appropriate race represent a restaurant… But it did show since the salsa for the tortilla chips were kinda thin and put in squeezable bottles… Guacamole is usually thicker, and I personally prefer pico de gallo instead of salsa roja, and how the aforementioned conversation started was that I recommended for him to leave dipping trays instead of expecting us to squirt the sauce onto the tray; tortilla chips aren’t as absorbent as fries!
It’s no more.
Eddy cantina in tianmu l think its good
I haven’t been there in I guess 2 or 3 years, but everytime I went there it was amazing! Probably my favorite Mexican. Went to their Daan shop, never tried their other shops.
Nomad was good.
Masa is good, simple.
Eddys is good, but more tex mex I guess. Seems more American style than Mexican. But very good.
Pang has a fun owner, lots of potential! Haven’t had a proper random drop in yet though.
That looks awesome. Anyone know which of these vendors are gonna be the go-to for tacos etc.?
I thought it was the second weekend of march? Are there 2?
Dang we arranged our work to go to Taipei around the March date. Whoops…?
Looking at the Facebook groups…I think I arranged our work the weekend after our original date but it was the weekend before. NOOOOOO!¡
what a frigging jackals I am. This was a 2 month planned highlight of my post LNY. F*ck!
If you go, just be aware it’s quite crowded due to some kind of cosplay convention happening in the same area
Oh dear god what kind of scheduling fiasco is this? ![]()
Guy
There’s youngsters dressed up everywhere
Nacho Mama
Opening soon it looks like apparently. Somewhere near this corner Taipei.
Already 2 fairly reliable Mexican places within 2 minutes of there so that puts 3 in the same 3 minute walk area.
I’m seriously hoping it’s not just nachos and that’s only for the “not your mama” play on words

Looks like they’ve shortened their hours closing at 9:00 p.m. now instead of staying open late.
Possibly signs of things to come because I never see them as busy as they were before they went to automation.
Two more Mexican places within 2 minutes of them have opened.
We didn’t make it there last time up north. Anyone tried this place yet?
We had just eaten when we walked past Nacho Mama. We stopped for a margarita. The taco plates look legit. I’ll go try the food. The owners are friendly and the place is spotless.
