New Economic Immigration Bill

Great update, if not great news. Thank you!

Guy

Let’s hope the bill passes in the next session. And they remove the 183days requirements for people who got the APRC via marriage too since it currently is not only those who got it based on work requirements.

let’s not be naive… the legislators are not afraid of an influx of German trained technicians and artisans coming here and working for 28K NT$ a month…

These people are coming in anyway.
It’s pure idiocy that we pay them to come here for years to live in small run down towns and then they go home and invest in their own countries.

Yeah a lot of sunflowers were against south east Asian white collar workers. I found it quite disgusting and small minded tbh

another demographic Taiwan ignores that I don’t get is that Taiwan trains all these foreign students from all over, many on scholarships, then just let’s them go when they are finished. All this talent, many of whom speak Chinese.

Yep thats madness. It’s almost a complete waste of time and money unless you consider that they are subsidising the universities here, which is a big part of it.

it is helping local universities and also is a form of soft power - helping people and nations have favorable opinions of Taiwan.

The Unis benefit from having more international students in that it helps them in the international rankings. You know how Taiwanese care so much about rankings.

The KPI of the scholarship scheme was probably just to improve the international ranking of universities and nobody was motivated enough to think about the bigger picture or probably was responsibility of another department or office that they couldnt be bothered to work with as it doesnt benefit their KPI

I’ve seen these masters students post their rubbish ‘thesis surveys’ from time to time on here and Facebook .

There is little long term motivation for these students to live here. Even if they are fluent and making some money, they will never feel welcome in the end. Like all of us. Unless they officially cut ties to back home.

Then there is treatment based on skin tone and political affiliation (nationality) in the genetal day to day

Then the are the poor bastards that come here for PhD (which normally means they come from somewhere worse than here as degrees here arent so useful). Professors love these guys and hold them ransom to publish their papers for a couple years before signing off.

Taiwan is only suitable for people of confidence and/or entrepenuers. The working force are abused and run down til leaving. If the gov cant at least first accept that reality, they better get on making their own citizens more intelligent and dilligent. Right quick.

What if president tsai didnt win this coming election or majority of the legislative yuan didnt win and what will happen to the NEW ECONOMIC IMMIGRATION BILL?

I convinced a lot of family members to vote for Tsai in hopes of this New Economic Immigration Bill.

Now president tsai is the winner and most of her legislative yuan members and do you think the new economic immigration bill will be approved or dissolved?
