What about going to one of the Pakistani-operated places and enjoy their tandoori cooked kabobs?
If you want a nice affordable treat in this direction, I can recommend the weekend lunch buffet at Taj, which includes all-you-can-eat tandoor cooked meats. Reservations highly recommended, especially after these guys landed again on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list (one of only two Indian restaurants in Taiwan recognized in this way; no Indian restaurants got stars this year).
And if Taj is tricky to get to from Danshui (that’s where you’re based, right?), then how about giving Ali Baba on Nanjing East Road a try? It’s another venerable shop run by Pakistanis who know their way around a tandoor oven. ![]()

Tried this place last weekend. I have driven past many times but never stopped.
He was sold out of tea and the only wraps he had were lamb and vegetable.
Lamb was nice 120nt
Vegetable was really filling because there were potatoes inside. I bought this for my kid but she couldn’t handle the heat. 100nt
Very good value. For 120 odd nt, I was satisfied so I will definitely go back.
Yes. Doesn’t show up as Nan Kebab on google. You have to use the Chinese name. Or the address @Marco just provided.
I’ll definitely give it a go next time I’m in Taipei.
That’s settled it. I’m having a kebab tonight.
As @Andrew mentioned upthread, on Saturday and Sunday the proprietor fires up the tandoor and prepares the chicken in there. Along with the veggie option, I think this is the best wrap he serves, along with his cold chai (when available) prepared with some green cardamom he’s brought to Taiwan from Pakistan.

Yeah, I agree. I tried some of the other options previously but haven’t in a year or two since discovering the tandoori chicken. He often sells out of that by 4 or 5 p.m. so I try and make it there before then.
I bought a couple today actually - one for the afternoon today, and one in the fridge for reheating tomorrow. ![]()
Kebabs are skewers in canada as well. the first time I had a what is basically a wrap/burrito called a kebab was in New Zealand. Very yummy, but not what was expected.
yes please!
although different flavors, taiwan has essentially the same thing everywhere, especially night markets.

I made it here today, about 1pm, since it is near Ama’s house. Ordered a vegetable, bbq chicken, and butter bread for the kids. I really liked it. The potato in the vege was the best potato I’ve had since getting here! Wife thought it was too much and too spicy on a warm day. I needed a long nap in the afternoon.
Nice to support these small independent shops, especially when the owners / operators are nice people, as is the case here.

Very good indeed!
Half a kilo of Pakistani goodness in the form of a beef roll. 120NT/roll.
We saved the milk tea for tomorrow because we were in beer mode.
That wasn’t my experience.
Smells fantastic passing on bike, so I stopped.
Chewy and flavorless. The opposite of what I was expecting. Could not finish either of the ones we bought.
If the reviews are heavy on the cheap price and the amount of kgs of meat inside, one does tend to wonder about quality. Based on that, I wouldn’t even try to be honest. Maybe some others can chime in on the quality of the place?
So far the best (skewer ) kebabs I have ever had are the Taiwanese ones. If they just added spices it would be a friggen game changer. Especially because they do all meats AND great vegetarian ones. Taiwan just needs to learn there is more than chinese styled spices around, they wouldnt need to rely so heavily on sugars and msg. If the eastern european guys doing ice cream changed to bbq, f*cking eh!
Which one(s) did you get?
I’m not really a fan of the weekday offerings (mostly because of my fussiness, not the food), but the weekend chicken tandoori is pretty decent in my opinion (and also in @afterspivak’s opinion, as discussed a couple of times upthread, though I don’t wish to make a habit of the two of us being in agreement on something
).
If any Forumosans are ever up in Leeds/Bradford, happy to introduce some great Pakistani places. Some amazing curries, seekh kebabs, tikkas, peshwari naans, etc.
Many moons ago I had to drive through Bradford on the way back from some work something-or-other and decided to stop for a curry. Still remember that as the best curry ever.
On my side, I don’t subscribe to an all-or-nothing approach to my fellow forumosans. Regarding foods and beverages and the beauty of northern Thailand, I am happy to be aligned with @Andrew 's views.
Speaking of which: it’s Sunday, so the tandoori chicken roti concoction prepared by the Pakistani guy on Tingzhuo Road is now available for those who like such things. ![]()
