I use this for reading the newspaper, but it works with everything, even the forums here.

Two best sites for digital cameras
http://www.dcresource.com and http://dpreview.com

For photo sharing, I came across this link in one of these forums, http://www.fotki.com/.
I STILL haven’t got my digital camera yet but I’m nearly there (going for ultra compact Canon SD10 (Ixus i)). I may sign up at Fotki unless anyone knows an even better photo sharing site?

I am a
chess
fanatic and I know of no better site on the web for chess news, puzzles etc than http://chessbase.com. Superb site. They also run http://playchess.com where, you guessed it, you can play chess. You have to download their browser thingy but it’s super easy. Many FMs, IMs and grandmasters play there on a regular basis and you can kibbitz. I once observed Nigel Short and Michael Adams beating up Elo 2000 plus players in 3 min blitz. Amazing stuff. It’s free if you log as a guest but if you buy the legendary Fritz 8 chess prgram you get a name with rating.
The Leftersons - Possibly the unfunniest, least insightful political comic strip on the web. The Right’s answer to Doonesbury, this is so bad that it holds a morbid train-wreck appeal.

Get Your War On - After reading the Leftersons, take this as an antidote. Violently anti-Bush comic strip. Hilarious stuff.

The Leftersons is pretty lame, about as unreadable as Tom Tomorrow.

Don’t see how “Get Your War On” is hilarious, though. I guess, like all partisan poop, you have to be a true believer.

I usually check in on VICE magazine’s website

http://www.viceland.com
It used to be a great magazine but the articles don’t tend to be as consistently funny or good as they used to. Occassionally there will still be a good one though. The “do’s” and “don’ts” page is still good for a laugh and their fashion spreads are still cool, if only because of the ideas – people with down syndrome modelling hip-hop wear etc.

Essential.

Viceland is cool.
Pic won’t link, but its a photo of an enormous knucklehead sporting a cutoff denim jacket covered with Iron Maiden patches and captioned:
this guy? yea that was a good one, har har har… ahhhhh… I don’t know if it’s low-brow or high, but making fun of rockers is funny.

Woah. Every episode of Seinfeld downloadable? Well, there goes my weekend. Exactly how is this - y’know - uh, legal?

(BTW, if you find a site like that for the original Star Trek, Cheers, or Twilight Zone, gimme a holler)

Waste hours playing annoyingly addictive flash games.

:sunglasses: loads more flash games here

:moo: Take a look at these ‘ambigrams’ - really creative graphic design using words that read the same upside down, or can be read as two words at the same time. Hard to explain. Check it out here.

 Highlights from Leno, Letterman and others with archive at newsmax.com

Some of the sites people have recommended are excellent. Keep 'em coming. :sunglasses:

You cruel tease! None of those download links on the Seinfeld site work! “Error! Error!”

The essential calendar for the new year! Today’s reason for celebration:

Dec. 7: Tom Waits’ birthday

“I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.”

What a coincidence, I was just reading the passage on his death just yesterday:

December 29 Rasputin assassinated (1916). He drank enough cyanide-spike dwine to kill six men, partied until the wee hours, then finally succumbed after being shot three times and drowned in a freezing river. Fortified wine.

Actually, he drank a couple of glasses laced with some other drug, and when that didn’t work, they plied him with the cyanide-spiked wine, and when that didn’t work, after a couple of hours of frustration one of the Princes pulled out a revolver, and he still escaped crawling on his hands and knees out of the castle cellar, and finally they had to shoot him a couple of times again, and they weren’t even sure then that old Ras had finally bit it, so they dumped his body with weights into the freezing river. He was harder to kill off than the sap in Blood Simple.

What’s your best score so far?
On the first time round, I got a miserable 53. The second improved to 43.
[Edit: best so far; 35]

I’m on 34.
30 is possible with a little luck on the trickier holes.
