Russia invades Ukraine: General Discussion 2023

He’s a real man as well. Unlike Putin.

Interesting question. I can easily imagine the US trying to walk the same line on military support.

Different kettle of fish.

Yes I have seen this one, that can be seen as a “lucky shot”, just waiting for the evidence of the other six. Even a few more, this would show that these missiles are not as unstable as previously advertised.

If they managed to get them all, that would put them in the nothing special category.

I disagree. I think it will be very similar. Taiwan won’t be allowed to bomb China if it wants to keep western support.

The rules of war are flexible.

If the US won’t attack Chinese logistics points that it’s using to attack Taiwan we can probably just forget the whole thing right now.

That’s the stand off, of course. However, I think there’s a possibility of the West allowing Taiwan to get bombed to hell. With a possible CCP loss:of sorts.

Taiwan would surely take the brunt of it. Chinese losses would mostly be military in nature, true. There would be sanctions and maybe other problems for the CCP however.

Taiwan has F16’'s Patriot systems and other weaponry Ukraine does not have. IT also produces its own weaponry as well and is ramping up anti ship missile production. Ships are slow. Missiles that track 50 feet or less above the surface are hard to kill.

China would need an invasion fleet larger than used in the D Day landings. Not like that can be concealed nowadays. Taiwan has missiles that can reach Beijing and other major cities. IT won’t need permission to use those weapons against China. No reason that Taiwan would only be allowed to take out things in the sky or ocean from an attacking force and not the mainland.

Yeah. Ukraine has almost certainly been told not to use NATO supplied weapons to attack Russia, for obvious reasons

eh what? I think you meant not to attack Russian soil which Ukraine has agreed to but I think is wrong. Supply chains over the border are legitimate targets.

Lol, oops yeah

Russian propagandists are already saying this is a NATO war, if NATO supplied weapons are used, that might make supply chains in Poland a target

Seems to be

A Western official told CNN that the UK has received assurances from the Ukrainian government that these missiles will be used only within Ukrainian sovereign territory and not inside Russia. UK officials have made frequent public statements identifying Crimea as Ukrainian sovereign territory, describing it as “illegally annexed.”

US will break the blockade to bring supplies to Taiwan.
Attack on US troops will allow attacks on Chinese mainland. Taiwan has long range missiles also. Not that it will do much good but they can hit the coast there.

If Ukraine could bring more anti aircraft missiles inside of Russia somehow , or hit ships in the black sea or caspian sea …

Other thing is play dirty and put the POW prisons beside their missiles defense.

Who knows whether it’s true or not, but supposedly Ukraine was all in for a massive attack on Moscow. US told them not to. I don’t see why Taiwan would be any different.

Makes sense to me

So then let Russia attack a NATO county. If the war is going badly for Russia now attacking a NATO country would left all restrictions.

Doubtful. Ukraine has already said that is too far and they have no intention. Just rumour mongering.

Taiwan makes it’s own missiles which have a range of over 1500km. Why shouldn’t Taiwan hit military targets in China? So Taiwan should let China attack Taiwan and not respond in kind?

That’s pretty much what Ukraine’s doing.
