Well, at the very least Ko still seems interested in it.
Apparently the Danjiang Bridge is howling. I’ve been close a few times and never noticed, but neighbours are complaining.
First cutting the water now this. Can Hou You Ih do anything right?
Nothing change ,The first overtaking maneuver on the Tamkang Bridge
I doubt it was the first, but it might be the most daredevil of the day.
To be honest, it does not really matter how much space you give them, 40 cm or 40 m, they will ride like assholes no matter what.
It’s also seen it’s first car crash within and hour of opening! Taiwan UP!
Less than an hour after opening, three treasures want to cross #TamkangBridge
Loving how that extra ramp on the right just merges into the existing lane. I see they still haven’t figured out lane arithmetic.
I’m not sure what you mean.
That was a very sketchy overtake. And we all know thats going to be a daily thing.
How on earth did this get approved? Just makes no sense at all.
There are two lanes on the main up-ramp onto the bridge. At busy times they’ll be full. Then another ramp comes in, also full, and just merges into one of them. That’s a traffic flow disaster – the two full lanes that merge into each other will constantly jam.
Lane arithmetic says, when another lane of traffic joins, you add a lane to the road. When a lane breaks off (like an off-ramp), remove a lane.
The traffic flow on this bridge would be faster if the main ramp was a single lane, and it became 2-lane when the other ramp merged.
That on ramp comes from Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf. I don’t know if you know the area, but the wharf is not exactly a hot spot and there’s absolutely no reason for anyone not coming from the wharf to use that ramp. I expect very little traffic on that ramp, and its peak hours will be non-working hours/days, so it won’t interfere with commuting traffic.
Fair! You’re right that I don’t know the area well. It was a knee-jerk reaction because SO MANY roads and intersections here get this catastrophically wrong.
Just opened, in 2026!

I’d love to see that twit flip over and into the river. One less idiot to worry about on the road.

This is when the Danhai LRT opened. People like to go to check new things and many Taiwanese are not afraid of crowds, queues and even traffic jams. This is the first weekend the bridge is open and weather is great (a bit windy). In a few weeks will see how things get normal.
Still, induced demand exists. This is not going to fix traffic in Tamsui and Bali, nor the new elevated road will.
…haven’t even made it to the bridge yet since my post.
