But is it any dumber than the US citizenship test? How many stripes are there on the US flag? What do they represent? Who was the first President of the USA?

lol…Sandy, that’s kind of the point, mate, isn’t it? Immigration tests (stupid questions and all) are really just trying to gauge if a prospective immigrant is going to be “assimilated” into society without thousands (or in the case of larger countries, millions) of citizens running around speaking something else.

Well, some people, like me, study on their own. I only studied at Cheng Da for 3 months. The rest of the time has been by myself, so I can’t give certificate proof of having studied Chinese for 18 months, although I have been studying for longer than that. Also, instead of the test you can do 200 hours at an elementary school at night with SE Asian brides etc, but I work nights and can’t go that route either.

Hence, for people like me, the only option is to take the test to prove I have some level of Chinese proficiency.

So, you have three options:

  1. 200 hours at an elementary school
  2. Provide certificates from accredited Chinese language centers proving you have studied Chinese for 18 months or more.
  3. Go it alone and take the test.

Ok, thanks. Changes made.

Now all I need to do is go write the test… Damn.

What do you suggest I do with the entire (with your and Iron Lady’s edited parts) thing now? Should I post it here in it’s entirety for future reference or what? It feels like a waste to just delete it from my hard drive after I’ve written the test…

Best of luck!

Sure, why not post it. I’ll never be writing the test, but I’m sure there are some out there that may find it useful.

The Black-Faced Spoonbill has a bill shaped like a:

a) fork
b) spoon
c) knife

:roflmao:

bismarck, you total champion. Well done mate, and a great help to the rest of us. :notworthy:

Anyone have suggestions as to what would be the best way to do that?

Fortigurn - Thanks for the praise, mate. Just hope others find it helpful.

Wrote the test this morning. Result: 100%!!!

Still looking for suggestions on how to post the entire thing with translation and pinyin on the board… Any thoughts?

Edit: If anyone would like a copy, send me a pm and I could try and e-mail it to you…
