The AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) thread

Why is the GND not on your list?

I’d have thought this would be Impressive Accomplishment #1.

??

You said “most”. You didnt ask for a list.

Why dont you list some of her accomplishments, since denigrating your political adversaries is not ok with you

Aside from garnering 17k general election votes (cumulative), she has none.

In fact, she’s a net negative for her district (Amazon HQ) and her identitarian politics are an ongoing disaster for the nation. Her focus on “the communities” is the DSA’s contribution to IP, and hers along with your and the Democrats’ “deplorables” language are breaking the US apart.

You can only drive identity wedges into the voting population, then attempt to reunite on the backside of a win, for so long before the nation fails to reunite. That may be where we are today.

Not a single valid idea. Amazing.

Thank you for proving my point.

Not a refutation. In fact, you ignored what I wrote.

Not amazing.

Youve spent months stating you wont consider democrats ideas and people should never vote for them. Not only is that treasonparty over countrybut a good reason why citing examples to you is a waste of time.

Party over country is treason. And trump supporters whining about denigrating others is hypocritical.

Taiwan is really easy

Why don’t we have threads like this on Klobuchar or Gillibrand? Too boring, I guess…

This one seems to cover the 3 new Congress women, not just AOC although most of it is that. Could always start something on Klobuchar or Gillibrand. Although every one else seems to be discussed in the 2020 USA Presidential Election thread. Don’t recall much if anything being discussed about those 2 though.

Not really much need to discuss Gillibrand in regard to 2020. She has such a creepy Stepford vibe that her chances of making it past the primaries are nonexistent.

It’s not party over country, though. It’s a clear case of country over the Democrat party, who pushed the boundaries of treason in 1850-1920, 1964-1972, 1980-1992, 2000-2008, and from 2016 until now.

It’s like libel - truth is the ultimate defense. :man_shrugging:

And since 2015 Democrats have thrown in the denigration of over half the country, the Americans you lot love to sneer at as deplorable.

If you want me or anybody else to take you seriously, apologize for it, promise to up your game, and execute on the promise. Otherwise, it’s just snafu for Democrats. :expressionless:

I think if the Republicans wanted to screw over the Democrats, they’d support somebody like AOC who hogs all the attention away from relatively normal, nationally electable candidates (and her without even being old enough to run for president). But then that’s what I thought about Trump.

Come to think of it, most of the leading Democrats (certainly the ones promoted in the media) have some kind of “off” quality. Bernie is prominent, but that’s about all that could be said for him. Biden doesn’t arouse many passions either way (and in fact people don’t recognize him at McDonalds), but comes across as a comforting figure in comparison to, say, Harris. Klobuchar strikes me as the most nationally electable, but I see she only gets something like 5% support. I guess she’s really running for a cabinet position.

As a non US citizen, I’ve always wondered: why?

His political curriculum has 3 passed bills, 2 of which were about renaming post offices. From an outsider point of view, all I’ve seen about him are his speeches during which he blames millionaires and billionaires for everything that’s wrong in this world, promises of tax-funded free stuff and a debate with Ted Cruz during which Sanders’ tax reform plan sounded like it had been developed by a bartender.

I think a lot of them do. There seems to be quite a few Republicans hoping there is no primary challenger to Trump so they can hop over to the Democrats side and promote crazy Bernie. Some may do it anyway as they don’t see a likelihood of success in challenging Trump in the primary.

I think Sanders has insurmountable problems. One, he’s a dead-left socialist and there are hours of video, taken at all stages of his life, where he expounds on his love of communism, the USSR, and socialist ideas. That’s a pretty reliable indicator of his history and his priorities.

Maybe a bigger problem is that he’s never worked a day in his life in the private sector - he’s never held a real job. He’s never relied on any but a government paycheck, he’s never relied on the marketplace to raise his family, he’s never once relied for income and the security of his family on the profit earned by his company or his employer’s. That’s a real deal killer in my book. His experience in America is just millions of miles away from the experiences of hundreds of millions of other Americans.

He’s allowed himself to live a life outside the real America, and that decision disqualifies him from any political office imo.

Course he’s also old, white, and privileged - and he embarrassed Clinton, the DNC, and CNN to no end in 2016.

It’s the patter, and the fact that back in 2016 he was the only alternative to Hillary. He’s what the Brits would call a back-bencher. If elected, he would have experienced many of the same problems governing as Trump.
