The EZ WAY app is a pile of steaming dog turd

Google uses DHL. This was the first time DHL send me an SMS to register with EzWay when fulfilling Google shipment.

Is there any way to avoid using HARD WAY APP? Is there a web registration?

I only use my phone for phone calls and occasional text messages. There’s no way I’d install that EZ thing. Whenever I’ve ordered something from overseas, the shipping company has sent me an email telling me to use EZ to clear customs. Sometimes those messages come with the option to fill out an attached Power of Attorney form and email it to them along with ARC copy. When I don’t see that option, I call the company and tell them I have a dumb phone and they email the POA.

Yea. Thats what I did. Hopefully they will get the message.

I hate it. Took so long to accept my ARC card that they sent the package back. Finally got it to work, but hate that they just tell you to be happy about their horrible service, like we’re in China or something.

For reference: it was a book. A freaking book. They would not give me a book (a non-controversial book) because I could not confirm it was me who was getting it because my confirmation (an ARC card) was not accepted by them. Fuck EZ WAY

I haven’t really had any problems with it since setting it up. It’s worked totally fine for me, and when I’ve had issues with something the staff have been very quick to respond.

I have only used it with Shopee though, and its implementation with Shopee for foreigners is poor as I’ve complained about previously (which is on Shopee’s end, not EZ Way’s). For a Taiwanese app, I don’t find it bad at all, and I’d definitely prefer it over making phone calls and sending emails each time.

My issue was simple:

  1. I had a book that was sent to me. It is about Montessori and Positive Discipline.
  2. EZ Way App refused to scan in and accept my ARC (I think because of the new number)
  3. EZ Way APP Customer Service told me to keep trying to scan my card. I tried several times per week for months. It never took it, but that was the only advice.
  4. I could not get my book. Because they did not like my ARC.

Why does a book have to be held up in customs?

The item in the package is irrelevant. All packages shipped from overseas need to be declared to customs (and import duties paid, if applicable), and the courier does that in your behalf so you don’t have to deal with customs directly.

The downside is you need to sign a power of attorney which unfortunately requires you to submit your ID.

If the app isn’t working for you, you can usually request that they send you a form to download and sign manually.

I’m not sure if there’s problems with the new number. I actually re-uploaded photos of my new ARC with the new number a couple of months back because the expiry date had passed, but I didn’t bother updating the ARC number itself (it wasn’t a modifiable field on my end, and I couldn’t be bothered emailing them - I’d previously had an issue where the customer service had added a Chinese name that isn’t on my ARC as a workaround to the Shopee problem, so I didn’t want to rock the boat).

And the person expecting a book is supposed to know this WITHOUT then telling you this?

I agree ignorance is no excuse in the law. But this is pretty blatantly them not caring to inform you of other ways to get it AND, when asked, advising you to try to reupload the ARC again, which fails. So then you ask again and they tell you the same. It is deception on their part for some reason.

I don’t care as far as the property goes. I went ahead and paid for the kindle version instead (the book was a raffle-type prize). But their deception is my main problem. Can you maybe give us the link for the non-EZ App form they use so others can benefit from it?

EZ App accepted me the next year when I bought nunchaku. So I am in their system now. But a link to the document we need to sign will help others who face the same issue.

“A couple months back” is different from “over a year ago.” (Not that I said the time frame. Just saying how they fixed it. My ARC works NOW…it did not back when we changed the numbers. The only reason I can think of why it did not work from my experience)

You did ask them for alternatives, but it sounds like they kept insisting you use the app. Next time just tell them you don’t own a smartphone.

Each courier has their own form. You can download the appropriate form in the EZ Way app, or on their website. Or just reply to their email and ask.

And there is the problem. Right?

Just wanted to know if anyone recently is running through customs issues lately. For example, in the EZway app the Total customs value is being reported as the origin currency value rather than the NTD exchange.

I’ve been having to request corrections on products coming and wanted to see if anyone else has been experiencing this too?

This is the experience my wife and I have had, just pretend EZway doesn’t exist and all will be well!

Yeah except you might have stuff that you waited on for several weeks get sent back to China.

I recently moved to a new city further north in Taiwan. I registered my new address with NIA, and got a new APRC with a new ID number. Now I can not use EZWay with my old account. So, I tried making a new account with my new ID and address. When I get to the step where I have to choose a password, I follow their criteria for passwords exactly. No matter what password I try, the app rejects them all, saying they don’t meet the criteria. But every single one I tried matched their instructions. I can’t go any further, so I can’t create an account. This app is :racehorse: :poop:!

Try a password that you haven’t already used with your old account.

BTW you also need a new username.

Agreed.

I tried several new usernames and several new passwords. Same result. Then I went to rate the app on the play store. Another foreigner complained about the same issue in his review. Can’t set a password, despite meeting the criteria. Serenity Now!
