Wack Things in Taiwan 2019

Please buy her some new clothes. The ones she had on looked like they’d been thrown down a mountain a few times. She was none-too-clean herself.

No no no I take care of business :pinching_hand:

How would you know that

It’s tough learning Taiwanese in Taipei. Starting an exchange in Taiwanese invariably leads to a conversation in Mandarin about the fact that I spoke Taiwanese, and never a simple normal exchange in Taiwanese. It’s like this is Borneo or something, not Taiwan

Well, that was mentioned earlier, and I assume he would have copped to that if it was his wife.

Oh. That’s a more in-depth reply than I expected lol

I married into a family of hardcore Central Benshengers, who think they’re speaking Taiwanese constantly, but they actually jump back and forth with Mando, without even realising it, so much it’d make your friggin head spin.

My fam is pretty pure. My kids are brutal lol

Expecting something “carnal knowledge” related?

Maybe, some kind of witty one-liner anyway

Like “canal”

:relaxed:

Was this a reply to me?

What do you mean “pure”?

They speak pretty pure taigi without much Mandarin in the mix. Mom and Pop can’t speak a word for one thing

Probably the same woman that was sitting in front of me, people alerted security and they escorted her off.

I’ve seen that on the MRT before but her hand was on the outside of her pants.

A few days ago a woman was singing in between glancing around for tigers or something. I sort of give people credit for not paying any attention to her.

Medical? ‘Hand me your money!’

My wife and her sister usually speak Hakka with Mandarin sprinkled in. Messes me up.

Not so old. They never saw the need for it  It certainly surprised me, I’ll tell you. My Minnan has gotten a lot better though!

He didn’t say they can’t speak Mando, just that they don’t. My pop-in-law, before he passed last year (may he rest in peace), the only time I ever heard him speak The Slave Tongue was when he was talking to me. And he was around for the Nipponese occo.

Now, would you like to say something about my wife???
