What movies are you watching (2022)

I remember trying to watch it twice and not being able to get through the whole thing, seemed like nothing was happening. Suppose I could try again…

edit: seems Under the Skin is on Shudder, but I would need to focus on it or once again I won’t get very far into it, so I’ve put on Ex Machina which I’ve seen several times because it is brilliant

 I guess I need to watch this. My home state. I just wonder if it’s staged. It says brought to you by the people behind Jackass, and I def remember something about an MTV show or movie that was done as “reality” that was half staged

It’s just real life and it would be impossible to stage this particular family. You’ll understand if you watch it.

There are lots of a hillbilly deep dive videos on YouTube I’ve noticed

I think it was MTV’s Buckwild show filmed in WV that was def partially staged. Anything from MTV is dubious, but I’ll take a look

Even if it’s fake, I don’t doubt that it’s still accurate ha

I think those two worked the best within the context of the movie. Overall the movie itself is quite mediocre.

Agreed. Not terrible, but I can’t imagine rewatching it as I have ‘Moana’, ‘Frozen 1’, ‘Coco’, ‘Ratatouille’, ‘Tangled’, ‘Inside Out’, etc. I don’t think I’ve seen a great CGI pic since ‘Coco’ came out almost 5 years ago. Even my daughter was lukewarm about it. Beautiful CGI though…

The best Pixar/Disney movie in recent years is Soul, and their best of all time is easily WALL-E.

I haven’t seen Soul. Wall-E is a beautiful and emotionally impactful film, but very slow in parts so I can’t rewatch it too much. That doesn’t mean I disagree, but best doesn’t necessarily translate into favorite. In terms of pure entertainment, my favorite Pixar film is probably ‘Ratatouille’ just because it’s so much fun. ‘Up’ is another great pic as well.

You should. Everyone should. It’s absolutely brilliant, though like Wall-E it is more adult.

In terms of pure entertainment my favourite is easily The Incredibles.

My favorite Pixar movie:

Up_(2009_film)

On deck for tonight:

I feel like 90% of Up’s insane popularity comes from the first 10-15 minutes or so (Carl and Ellie).

I saw this last week and thought it was somewhat entertaining if you treat it like the parody that it is.

The most baffling part, though, was how they tried to sell us the notion that DiCaprio, who looked haggard af and basically could pass as a stand-in for Jack Nicholson, was the hot scientist in the room instead of Jennifer Lawrence sitting literally next to him. I mean, really? I don’t even consider Lawrence the prettiest girl there is, but if they wanted to market a hot scientist even within the context of this stupid movie, maybe they should’ve cast someone who’s actually hot or at very least styled him better to make it seem slightly more convincing.

Kevin and Dug the talking dog held their own too.

Watched it today. I’ve definitely known people who would fit in with this family, including some of my own family…

I think in MidWest middle nearly everyone has at least one family member or know someone like those.

I know a lot of people who are like that, to varying degrees. With the “it’s ok to be stupid because yeehaw we’re rednecks” attitude.

Put this on the other night (Amazon or Netflix)

Suddenly seems relevant!

That is why we have Jeff Goldblum.

Saw Soul. Didn’t get it.

Culturally speaking, I feel closer to Coco than Encanto but both rock awesome music.

BTW madrigal is a kind of “music” back there.

Watched the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It was decent. Gory. Lots of dumb moments, like most horror movies

i didn’t get more than 30 minutes in! but i keep putting on movies and then not paying attention because i’m doing other things at the same time…
