What movies are you watching (2023)

I watched T.I.M on Netflix. I hated it.

Dude, man, after Kurt died, man, dude— man, it was a bummer. Like everything was a bummer. You had to move on. Then, OJ— dude. Then Jerry. Ugh. In the sixties they took the Kennedys and MLK. The 90s took the wind out of your sails, man. You couldn’t even move. They took everybody worthwhile from us, man.

Something like that?

Maybe that too. I meant more the film style of the 90s. Also cnaandian style touches on the same vibe Ia m failing at describing. like a PBS doc but in a movie, if that makes sense. the sound, the light, the way lines are read. 90s has a theme. I hated it then, but it brings back memories now. but ya, dude. that too probably. Let’s just say ā€œpoint breakā€ type films arent my preferred styles so I have a narrow perspective.

Mystic Pizza?

was thinking more home alone, terminator 2, jurrasic park, batman etc.

movies that seems to have started to break that streak I felt were matrix, saving private Ryan, men in black etc. seemed a turning point towards far better cinematography and acting skill. not that the matrix had good acting hahaha.

I guess I was caught up in the malaise. American Psycho, anything by Tarantino, Natural Born Killers, twenty something angst movies.

Just a load of crap really.

SFW!

Wonder how that one holds up today.

Do not speak ill of the JP series. Well, the second Chris Pratt one wasn’t the best.

Hated American Psycho. Complete ruination of a great book.

Love it, hate it.

…

I am praising them, but there is an absolute sense of the time they were made. the acting and colors, everything. they just have that vibe.

I still like the first jurrasic park. not the second…

I also liked the earlier seasons of the xfiles and the outer limits, so there is that…haha

Exactly, when the day to day routine became shit. When life became shit. What about that Michael Keaton one where he was a tenant from hell? What a bizarre movie. Great actor, top of his game, idiotic role.

beetlejuice

Pacific heights

1988, bro.

:poop:

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

6/10

2 1/2 hrs of action packed chases, jokes in the face of death, constant Indiana Jones symphony music, other than that better than expected, made 80 old Harrison Ford look 40 years old with CGI, pretty soon won’t even need actors.

Dungeons & Dragons (2023, not the awful one from 2000). A lot of fun. Much better than I expected. And I’m not even a D&D fan. 8/10

damn! Alright, touche. I thought I was in the lead not making a beteljuice comment. Not going to lie, the first time I watched it I was thoroughly entertained. might line it up for the next time I am in the mood for "90s ish"movie.

cheers. I have been thinking about this one for a bit too. I have no idea about the game, but have some friends that used to be die hard and I like the passion. I would probably be equally sold on a Magic movie, that kind of fantasy is fun.

my wife was wondering about it. so far all I came up with is it might well be similar to a Harry Potter and lord of the rings hybrid? Is that evenr remotely close?

Also, age appropriate for a 9 year old kid? she has seen the Harry Potter ones, but the last one was a bit dark (taiwan ghost style child fears n all).

Kinda… I’d say more a combo of LOTR and The Princess Bride, as its good natured humor and quest to rescue a loved one kind of reminded me of that.

This is one of my favorite scenes from the film, so maybe this will sell you on it.

I think so. I don’t think I’d have a problem bringing my kid to it, but I’m kind of lax with this stuff. As it’s an action-fantasy film there’s a lot of (generally bloodless) violence, but nothing too bad except they revive some reanimated corpses at one point. The bad guys, red wizards, may be scary to younger audiences as well. Their look is kind of creepy.

Saw this on the airplane. It was better than expected. Still not a great movie or anything, but fun enough
