You may laugh but this guy seemed to star in over 300+ porn movies IMDB link he was also a MMA fighter.
Not sure how involved this guy was in the shooters life, but non stop porn career for a decade+, violence (professionally and domestically), drugs would be setting of red flags for me and some suspicions of what else might have been going on in the shooters life. Not exactly the kind of environment which is good to bring up a kid in, quite the opposite in fact.
More so that immediately wondering “I wonder if his father voted for the Democrats or the Republicans”.

The thing is that it’s inherently sexualized as a form of burlesque. Clean versions can be presented, and I’m sure they are as a rule for children’s shows (though I have heard about exceptions), but it’s always going to be a question if lines are being crossed unless some kind of entirely new norm is established. It is curious that this is the way of introducing gay and/or trans culture to children, when there are many other possibilities for doing so. It’s fun and entertaining to many, but a lot of other things are as well. It does seem bound to be a continual source of angst at present.

Good point. For story hour too…why not a nice boring trans man rather than a drag queen? And why not trans women? It’s easy to see why concerned parents might question their motives.

I don’t really have a take on this, but it does remind me of this pretty cutting Onion piece from back in the day:

because the drag queens are volunteering, and the story hour things are generally done by volunteers. you don’t want a drag queen, rather than getting all pissed off and ruining it for those who do, go volunteer! and kids (and grown ups) don’t want to listen to boring fuckers.

So? You think it is notable why? You think his father who he hadn’t seen in 11 years voting republican is the key reason this shooter went to a bar and killed 5 people and injured 20 others?
Best not to jump to conclusions or point the blame in these kind of cases and let the facts come out. Other than the shooter, we know he is to blame.

In the UK this silliness was paid by the councils hosting them.
Why is this stuff being mirrored in different countries? Funny how many things are being mirrored.
Despite these concerns, scores of councils have signed up for Aida H Dee’s story hour, for which he is paid £150 per one-hour story-time session. Tickets are free and he often gives up to three ‘performances’ a day.
That fee was obtained through the Freedom Of Information Act, as many councils chose to draw a veil of secrecy over their decision to host Drag Queen Story Hours.

I go to drag shows often and they are some of the filthiest nastiest and most beautiful things I’ve seen.
Certainly not, because children aren’t going to those shows. Drag in public is fine and as you said there are many examples that aren’t sexual in nature whatsoever. Like many things this is manufactured outrage, fueling bigotry and leading to tragedy.
Drags shows are fckin dirty tho I live for that sht. Always a good time.

What is a nice boring trans woman? The story hours I’ve seen are just someone dressed in drag. There’s a difference between a full on drag show and dressing in drag.
Didn’t the guy live with his grandmother? And the grandfather was a full on MAGA state assemblymen in California.
