Taught in the Philippines , Anyone?

In my (admittedly limited) experience, people in the Philippines take school a bit more seriously than Taiwanese people and aren’t so robotic. The general quality of education is patchy. Some of the universities are just degree mills. Some of them are probably better than Tai Da. If this university is one of the better ones, you’ll probably find it a refreshing experience. Manila is a shithole. Imagine Taipei except with worse plumbing, no building maintenance, and taxis made from converte…

Thanks Gus. My views have probably acquired a bit more nuance since I wrote that, so I’d have more (and slightly different) things to say on the subject today, but the gist of it is still broadly correct (IMO) and I’d still offer the same advice, particularly the bit about the country wearing you down after a while. Even a lot of Filipinos seem to be troubled by that, and just want to GTFO when they hit adulthood, lest they be dragged down into the crab bucket.
