The Central Epidemic Command Center announced today (26) that there were 25,071 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 24,790 local cases and 281 imported cases; 37 new deaths were confirmed among the confirmed cases.
The command center said that there were 24,790 new local cases today, 11,769 males, 13,011 females, and 10 cases under investigation; the age ranged from under 5 years old to over 90 years old; the cases were distributed in New Taipei City (3,939 cases), Taichung City (3,120 cases), Kaohsiung City (2,584 cases), Taipei City (2,523 cases), Taoyuan City (2,211 cases), Tainan City (2,047 cases), Changhua County (1,265 cases), Pingtung County (870 cases), Yun Lin County (756 cases), Miaoli County (725 cases), Yilan County (651 cases), Hsinchu County (583 cases), Chiayi County (551 cases), Hualien County (544 cases), Hsinchu City (492 cases), Nantou County (465 cases), Keelung City (374 cases), Chiayi City (357 cases), Taitung County (314 cases), Kinmen County (256 cases), Penghu County (149 cases), Lianjiang County (14 cases).
The command center pointed out that there were 37 new deaths from local cases today, including 20 males and 17 females, aged in their 40s to over 90s. All had severe infections, 35 had a history of chronic disease, 28 had not received the recommended 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccine and 17 hadn’t had any doses at all. The date of diagnosis was between May 18 and July 21, 2022, and the date of death was between May 18 and July 23. Please refer to the attachment to the press release for details.
The command center stated that among the 281 new cases of immigration today, 158 were males and 123 were females; between the ages of under 5 and over 70, the United Kingdom and Vietnam (12 cases each), Singapore (11 cases), the United States and Germany (6 cases each), Spain (5 cases), India, Thailand and Cambodia (4 cases each), the Netherlands and Indonesia (3 cases each), Turkey, Switzerland, Malaysia and the Philippines (2 cases each), Italy, Oman, Ireland, China, South Korea and Japan (1 case each), and another 197 infected countries are under investigation. The entry date is from June 30 to July 25 this year.
According to the statistics of the command center, up to now, there have been 14,617,978 notifications related to novel coronavirus pneumonia in Taiwan (including 10,139,708 excluded), of which 4,472,755 were confirmed, including 18,950 imported cases, 4,453,751 local cases, 36 Dunmu Fleet cases, 3 aircraft infections, 1 case is unknown and 14 cases are under investigation. Since 2020, a total of 8,686 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, of which 8,671 are local. The counties and cities of the cases are distributed in New Taipei City with 1,942 cases, Taipei City with 1,009 cases, Taichung City with 843 cases, Kaohsiung City with 785 cases, Tainan City with 672 cases, and Taoyuan City. 648 cases in Changhua County, 358 in Pingtung County, 256 in Yunlin County, 248 in Nantou County, 205 in Keelung City, 188 in Miaoli County, 186 in Chiayi County, 173 in Yilan County, 146 in Hualien County, There are 139 cases in Chiayi City, 134 in Hsinchu County, 117 in Taitung County, 83 in Hsinchu City, 18 in Penghu County, and 11 in Kinmen County; the other 15 cases were imported from abroad.
The command center once again calls on the public to complete vaccinations as soon as possible, implement personal protective measures such as hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and wearing masks, reduce unnecessary movement, activities or gatherings, and avoid entering and leaving crowded places or high risk of infection transmission and actively cooperate with various epidemic prevention measures, download and use the “Taiwan Social Distancing APP”, and jointly strictly guard the community defense line.
