Not a restriction per se, but in the midst of spiralling COVID-19 cases in its midst, China Airlines has apparently suspended many of its flights to and from LAX, SFO, and YVR in the upcoming two weeks.
“EU member states agreed Wednesday that the bloc’s borders should re-open to travellers who have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, European sources said.”
Guess EU will publish a list soon if they can agree. My guess is that US will be on the list. The rest will be similar to the latest Latvian entry restriction. This is only my guess!
In Netherland travel for non-essential purposes has been permitted for arrivals from the following seven third countries:
Australia
Israel
New Zealand
Rwanda
Singapore
South Korea
Thailand
"The authorities of Latvia will now allow persons who have completed the vaccination against the COVID-19 to skip self-isolation when they enter the country.
In a press release issued by the Latvian Ministry of Transport, it was pointed out that all persons returning from a European Union or European Economic Area country, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom will be exempt from the self-isolation requirement.
However, the testing requirements for all those vaccinated still remain in place. Everyone is required to present a negative COVID-19 test result not older than 72 hours."
[SELF-PAID COVID TESTS AT TZU CHI HOSPITAL AND FAR EASTERN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN TAIPEI]
I was able to get an appointment at Tzu Chi Hospital in Taipei for the week after next. It looks like now they have appts starting June 9th and later. Self-paid Covid-19 Test - 台北慈濟醫院 (tzuchi.com.tw)
Also Far Eastern hospital, but you can only book 13 days in advance so I think you just need to be really quick when you want the appointment
Type of test: the test used must be a molecular NAAT (PCR) test (either PCR, RT PCR, LAMP, TMA or mPOCT). No other type of test, including antigen tests and serological tests (blood tests to detect antibodies), is valid;
At this time, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, you must book and pay for a 3-night hotel stopover before you arrive in Canada . You’ll stay at the government-authorized hotel while you await your arrival test results
You would get it at a pharmacy like in the post above.
So my advice is book TPE - SFO, chill for a day, then go onwards to Canada. Or if you have a long layover (4.5hrs plus) you can probably find a pharmacy in San Mateo (where SFO is) to get the vaxxx.
I am in the US right now. Left last week. There is so much vaccine here it’s crazy. Got my first Pfizer jab within hours of landing at SFO. They’re playing radio ads basically begging the people who still haven’t been vaxxed to do so, and there are now even contests to try to encourage vaccination.
Yes, I’m a US citizen but the information about eligibility is crystal clear.
Do I need to be a California resident to get COVID-19 vaccine?
No. Vaccine distribution is based on eligibility irrespective of residency or immigration status.
If you have a way to get into the US I am far more confident (99.9999999999999% certain) you can easily get a jab than I am hopeful the situation in TW is going to get better quickly.
